HI!

As some of you may know Casey has been looking to sell the site and not wanting to let it go to someone outside our community Me and a couple of other "investors" have taken it under our proverbial wing.

There are some big changes about to happen as some of you might know I have some experience turning a forum around for the better. It's no secret that the unity that we once shared in this community has been lost. We hope over the coming months that we can restore some of the unity in this community. I remember the days when I would see a DSM and know who it was immediately. Now I see one and I have no idea who they are or what's done to their cars.

We hope to have an event soon and reach out to the not so active members and get them involved in the board again. We will be cleaning up the board and making it run fast again without having to wait minutes to find what you're looking for. We are going to erase the elitist attitude that has run so many people off the site and in return hope to attract people who want to be here rather than feel they deserve to be here.

So that's it for now if you have any questions please feel free to ask them and I'll be happy to answer them.

Some of you may have lost your mod/admin permissions and if you would like to talk about that please PM me and we can talk.

Thanks,

Runt

I can't wait. I'm super excited that the site was kept in the community. I know runt can do what I have lost and make the site great once again.

Power to the People!

Great news. Casey thanks for all the hard work maintaining the site over the years. Runt, good luck. If you guys find that you need some big enterprise class server hardware, let me know. I have some unused servers just laying around doing nothing at the moment. If you guys find you could make use of it, then consider it my donation to the cause!

Ok so it looks like we've completely the move and the site is quite a bit quicker, thanks Sam.

There maybe some features that are sketchy for a minute while we work out some kinks but bare with us and we'll get it back running smoothly.

Now that the DB caches have started to fill up the site is ripping along pretty well. I still have some work to do to optimize the database, but we're off to a good start.

Sam,
They are both quad P3 Xeon systems. One is a Dell 6450 I believe and the other a Compaq Proliant 7000. Both have redundant power supplies. The Compaq has either 8 or 16GB or ram in it and both run SCSI drives (I think the Dell has Ultra 360s and the Proliant SCSI II or III, not sure as Im at work now) They also have external storage towers. I think the Compaq hase about 100gb.. The Dell has around 250GB I think. Not much if you are thinking desktop world in today's terms, but these would be best used in a RAID 5 array to ensure recovery.

I know that sounds old... but these are enterprise class servers (The proliant cost about $25k new!!)and I'd think they'd have more than enough horsepower to run this website. Both have run Win2k3 server in the past. If you were running a version of Linux server, they'd run pretty damn fast.

If you guys are interested in seeing them, PM me and we'll figure it out.

PS: Thank you for not making me an admin!! I didn't have the time that the site deserved, or the drive to do it anymore.

Very nice.

We're currently on an 8 way Xeon clocked at 2GHz. We don't have that much memory, but the hosting is considerably less expensive than it would be if we had to finance rackspace for something like a 7000, or even a 6450.

I'd say I'd buy one for a dev/testing box, but I already have too many computers running here. :P/>

Actually the "owner" still drives the short bus.
